Yippee! We're done! Well, we're done - just did some final touches last night. The top coat goes on September the first, though I think we (as in, all 14) are supposed to be done today. Maybe this weekend. ?
We're in the Evanston Review, the local branch of the Pioneer Press, as well. Make sure you click on the pictures ... then it takes you to more & little blurbs on each:

I have been collecting & putting together video footage. I will make a movie & post it up to You Tube. Unfortunately my computer apparently would like all those movies to go reside on an external harddrive, not sit in iMovie, so I've got an appointment with the nice people at Apple to sort that out next Tuesday.

Ooo ooo ooo
I should be working out, but I am of course doing as much as I can to avoid that. It's just delay, not canceling.
Day #2 on the wall, Tuesday, and yes I'm a little slower on the posting. I was more thinking about Epsom salts and muscle relief than blogging by the end of it.
We did get a wee write up in the Tribune:

Michelle is on the panel right in the middle of the mural, and has our name-drop content. Obama kicked off his Illinois campaign at the Heartland Cafe.
And with any luck we'll also make it into the Evanston Review and/or Pioneer Press.
We got this far by the end of Monday
Tuesday we were able to start filling in the food. BJ filling in the food. We are conveniently located - just across the road from a good burger. I had the catfish last night, that hit the spot.

Woohoo!
So - we're off! Its been a big day and I'm largely incoherent right now, but hopefully there's enough juice left to leave a quick update.
Yes - we are on the wall!
Spray cans are coming in tomorrow, so we're starting with what Dustin & Won had left over from other jobs. Won gave us a the quick low down on using a spray can this morning. Great for laying out where things are going to go.
All the nice scribbles behind were my own fault ... practicing with the can before laying out.
Thursday night was our first night projecting. Small islands of art action in the night. Vignettes of the artists in action.
b.j. filling in the lower right corner. The concrete is a bit of a pain, you really have to work the paint into the spots. Then you think you're fine, turn away, look back a few minutes later and what do you know ... ? More spots.

Now we're up in Winnetka.
Well, OK, we just finished up in Winnetka.
This family's basement playroom needed something more. They have a beach that they regularly visit, and they love the sails of a regatta. They found us on a website, not ours, at first, but Deb bought a chair from them from Craigslist. So you never know where the next job will come from, word of mouth, just talking.
So after some exchanges of iPhone pictures & throwing ideas around we have the basic plan of a couple of trees, some bright-day-at-the-beach sky, and the kids playing on the beach with a regatta up close so that you can see the good bold colors of the sails.
We wanted to add the dune grass & color a little behind the shelving ... even though it all goes back there & probably will stay there for a long time. As with the next job, you just never know. And if some day there is a change-around of layout then you want there to be something behind those shelves, not just plain walls saying "oh, we didn't paint that bit".
Adding a few islands gives another sense of distance, another 'plane' of perspective to give the mural depth.
And, with a big wall of mirrors, you get twice the mural!
