Our latest in-public action adventure was at the Wilmette Sidewalk Sale last weekend. We had a great time, as usual it was a fun and friendly event. Fortunately not as screaming hot as we anticipated, one might even go as far as to say it was pleasant to be outside painting.
This year we had a couple of prepared boards to dazzle the passers-by with. Literally.
We think this would look great in a wine bar, or champagne bar ... imagine booths with a stunning foil piece framed by nice wood between them. All hearty and elegant, but with modern zaps.
The base is a hologram foil, and yes, we're still hunting for someone who would like dragons going up and down their staircase in this finish. So this grape one was first.
It starts out just gaudy shiny ... all gold with the hologram flashes of turquoise and magenta, bright flashes of light to stun and attract people as they walk on by.
The browns are translucent, so you still get a bit of light coming thru them, and they show off the clear crackle glaze. So we end up with an antiqued looking finish with a fairly aggressive occasional light spark.
Since that was so much fun, and we had painted a mermaid our first year at the Wilmette sidewalk sale, we also went to town with the silver hologram foil:
With a school of mermaids.
The mermaids were all finished up before the 2nd day was over, so we started a fun one. It's always good to have a few tricks, and this one turns out to be easy & look great: dewdrops.
Woohoo! Splish splash!
