Its the basement. Its family space, its work space. Like a guest bathroom, it doesn't have to be formal & impress the visiting business dignitaries. So if you have a piece of you that would like to cut loose and make a space that is just plain fun, we can certainly help out.
This family had had enough with replacing carpet. They spend a lot of time down here as office/workshop/family room space. Let alone doing the laundry. Here's what we all came up with ...
The blue floor was painted by regular paint guys, then we came along to do the decorative stuff.
The stone pathway leads from the bottom of the stairs, around the couch (currently invisible) to the back work room. We spiffed up the column , and we were going to do a gazebo with more clematis twining around ... but an idea that's a bit more int he fun & silly range won out:
The Work Fairy! Since Becky has her desk against this wall. She also decided that since she spends time down here with the laundry that another fairy was in order.
And that since she loves her garden as much as fairies we should bring a bit more of that bright growing energy in.
With more fairy stuff
and more more more bright stuff
Lots of happy color, everyone should have one, right?
So we'll be back again some time to add a few things, and I'm hoping we can do one of the first ideas in round two. An escape hatch / manhole cover. Especially since Paul & Becky both work in the computer line, a nice big steel hatch with "in case of emergency press Shift, Control, Escape"
But one of those ones with neat designs on, I think.
